COMEST
The World Commission on the Ethics of Scientific Knowledge and Technology COMEST* is an advisory body and forum of reflection composed of 18 independent experts. The Commission is mandated to formulate ethical principles that could provide decision-makers with criteria that extend beyond purely economic considerations.
 

comest_logo_web.gif Since its inception by UNESCO in 1998, the functioning of COMEST has been guided by its Statutes adopted by the UNESCO Executive Board at its 154th session.

*Acronym taken from the French name 'Commission mondiale d’éthique des connaissances scientifiques
et des technologies'.

NewsSixth Ordinary Session of the World Commission on the Ethics of Scientific Knowledge and Technology in Malaysia  2009-05-25 7:00 am UNESCO
At the kind invitation of the Government of Malaysia, the Sixth Ordinary Session of the World Commission on the Ethics of Scientific Knowledge and Technology (COMEST) was held in Kuala Lumpur, from 16 to 19 June 2009. It focused mainly on science ethics, and on the ethical implications of climate change.
