News 1 of 5 Next

The international and interdisciplinary symposium “Renaissance of tragedy. Poetics, philosophy, aesthetics, music”, organized by the University of Paris IV – Sorbonne, the Università degli Studi Federico II of Naples and CNRS, will take place from 17 to 19 September 2009 at the Sorbonne.

Closely related to UNESCO’s work in the fields of philosophy and human sciences, this event obtained UNESCO’s patronage with the support of the Social and Human Sciences Sector.

The issues proposed for discussion during the symposium have not been frequently studied from an interdisciplinary and trans-historical perspective stretching from Antiquity to the modern and even contemporary era.

Bringing together experts from different disciplines, namely philosophers, Hellenists, Latinists, neo-Latinists, philologists, art historians, etc., this symposium will explain the complexity of the subject as well as its importance and consistency throughout the development of the history of ideas and of Western culture.
