Social Justice in Healthcare: Bioethics and Human RightsCollected materials and documents on the International Conference “Social Justice in Health Care” held in Moscow from 7 to 8 December 2005.
The book is composed of reports and presentations dedicated to the most topical issues of the modern healthcare system. It also contains the Final Document and Recommendations of the conference. The list of speakers featured prominent representatives of Russian and foreign science, state and public figures, practicing doctors and specialists in the field of human rights.

All texts included in the book are published both in Russian and in English.

The International Conference “Social Justice in Healthcare: Bioethics and Human Rights” was organized at the initiative of the Division of Ethics of Science and Technology of the Social and Human Science Sector of UNESCO at the venue provided by Moscow University for the Humanities. The aim of the Conference was to work out expert recommendations for the development of collaboration between the state (represented by health agencies) and the civil social institutions in the promotion of the equitable access to the quality medical aid, protection of the rights of patients and participants of medical tests.

The conference was organised around four thematic sessions:
  • right to health as priority in the health policy;
  • ethical aspects of prevention of HIV/AIDS;
  • inter-sectoral partnership in provision of social justice in healthcare;
  • protection of the health of citizens: state and public assessment.
