"Sun Rings" with the Kronos Quartet

Kronos Quartet is a string quartet founded by violinist David Harrington in 1973. Since 1978, the quartet has been based in San Francisco, California.

To end the opening ceremony of the International Year of Astronomy, the Kronos Quartet gives a show representation of the “Sun Rings” wrote by Terry Riley, an ode to Earth and his people; featuring a choir of both sounds and cosmic images from the space.

Kronos Quartet is a string quartet founded by violinist David Harrington in 1973. Since 1978, the quartet has been based in San Francisco, California.

Kronos covers a very broad range of musical genres: Mexican folk, experimental, pre-classical early music, movie soundtracks, jazz and tango.
