Professor Gleb Udintsev is a well known Russian oceanographer, a leading specialist in geomorphology and tectonics of Ocean floor. He participated in more than 50 sea expeditions many of which were coordinated by IOC such as to the Indian and Pacific oceans and to study Mid-Atlantic ridge. He made many scientific and geographical discoveries. His contribution to the study of topography and tectonics of the Ocean Floor was marked by giving his name to one of the great fracture zones in the South Pacific. For more than 40 years Professor Udintsev actively participated in GEBCO Guiding Committee as the Chief-Editor of the Geological-Geophysical Atlases of the Indian, Atlantic and pacific Oceans.
