"Cosmos" - a journey to the ends of the Universe

"Palais de la Découverte" Paris, France, from 23 June to 22 November 2009

Discover all levels of the cosmos - the closest to farthest - a trip that starts with the solar system and ends at the confines of the most distant known galaxies and structures.

This large exhibition of 300 m2, is organized by the Observatoire de Paris with the support of the City of Paris, ONERA and the UNESCO Natural Sciences Sector.

The objective is to enable the understanding of the different objects and different scales of the vast universe: stars, galaxies, clusters, large estructura.

The educational objective is that each visitor comes out with an overview of:

  • the intimate nature of a galaxy
  • the aspect of the universe at a large scale
  • how the cosmos was structured
  • its history and its evolution since the big bang
  • different scenarios of the creation of galaxies, the result of very active current research
  • developments in the understanding of the universe over time by researchers

The exhibition will be held at "Palais de la Découverte" in Paris, France, from 23 June to 22 November 2009
