Following two weeks of negotiations, the Copenhagen United Nations Climate Change Conference reached an agreement to take note of the “Copenhagen Accord”, aiming at:
- limiting temperature rise (to below 2 degrees Celsius)
- reducing emissions (developed countries committed to list their emission reduction targets and developing countries their mitigation actions for 2020)
- mobilizing finance for developing countries to fight climate change (US$ 30 billion for immediate action until 2012 and US$ 100 billion annually by 2020)
- enhancing the absorption of greenhouse gases by forests.
