  • > A second round for the Mondialogo Engineering Award : 2006-2007 - Updated: 25-08-2006 8:44 am
The overall goal of this Award, a component of the DaimlerChrysler-UNESCO partnership, is to promote intercultural dialogue among young people around the world.

Thus, the Award, now in its second round (2006-2007), encourages cooperation among student engineers world-wide, based on the preparation of project proposals, to address poverty reduction and sustainable development.

The successful first round of the Mondialogo Engineering Award (2004-2005) brought together over 1,700 young engineers from 79 countries in 111 project teams. In May 2005, twenty-one Mondialogo Engineering Awards were presented to the winning student teams at a Mondialogo engineering symposium in Berlin.

For the second round of the Mondialogo Engineering Award (2006-2007), teams of engineering students in universities and colleges in developing and developed countries are invited to cooperate in the design, production and presentation of project proposals that address basic needs in developing countries focusing on poverty eradication, sustainable development and the other United Nations’ Millennium Development Goals. Areas of basic need include, particularly, water supply, sanitation, affordable housing, food production and processing, health services transport and communication.
