Folk medical knowledge may be regarded as clinical experience obtained naturally.
However, part of the experience might be mythical reflecting regional differences in culture. The task of separating fact from myth and isolating placebo-effects from objective bio-activity in folk and traditional medicine is a difficult one. This fourth volume in the series continues to cover the results of the 'international collaboration project' launched by the Regional Network for the Chemistry of National Products in Southeast Asia in collaboration with UNESCO. The series is a UNESCO project. For more information, contact the UNESCO Jakarta Office, E-mail : jakarta@unesco.org
