UNESCO Office, Jakarta presented the ‘Practical Guide for Museum Revitalisation in Indonesia’ to the Ministry of Culture Tourism

Mr Masanori Nagaoka, Programme Specialist for Culture of the UNESCO Office in Jakarta presented to Ms Intan Mardiana Napitupulu, Director of Museums of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the ‘Practical Guide for Museum Revitalisation in Indonesia’ at the office of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in Jakarta on 08 April 2011.

This Practical Guide is based on results of evaluations, discussions and consultations between UNESCO Office in Jakarta and the Directorate for Museums of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, evaluating the overall condition of the museums in Indonesia and identifying appropriate actions and measures for museum revitalisation.

Aimed at raising awareness and strengthening museum staff capacities in museum management, this guide focuses on the physical aspect, collection care, human resource issues, general administration and domestic and overseas museum partnership relations. It also shares some of the best practices from several leading museums all over the world.

This practical guide, written in both Indonesian and English languages, has been published by UNESCO Office, Jakarta in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Indonesia.
