AP-FRIEND Workshop in Hanoi, Vietnam, 28 February – 1 March 2011

To understand and to share experiences on Flood Design theory, principles and approaches, a project has been launched by AP FRIEND aiming to study Flood Design methods and applications at member countries in AP area.

At the AP FRIEND meeting in November 2009, Wuhan, China, it was decided that the Flood Design work under the auspices of the AP FRIEND project would proceed in two stages. The first stage would consist of a “Catalogue of flood estimation methods” to be completed by late 2010; the second stage would focus on “Flood Design Hydrographs” to be completed by late 2011. The first stage consisting of a “Catalogue of flood estimation methods” was completed in time for the AP FRIEND meeting in Hanoi, Vietnam in November 2010. At the present there is a request for country information on “Flood Design Hydrographs” which will be gathered in the workshop, to contribute to the second stage work to be completed by late 2011.

The workshop to be conducted will consists of 2 full-days in-depth presentation and discussion on flood design hydrographs from each country. As planned during the 18th RSC meeting in Hanoi Vietnam in Nov 2010, the workshop will take place during 28 February – 1 March, 2011, in Hanoi Vietnam.
