Following up the 2006 community based disaster preparedness project, where the assessment tool for earthquake and tsunami preparedness has been received with great positive interest by all relevant stakeholders at a local, regional and national level.
Looking at the national and regional vulnerability, it is essential to modify the current assessment tool into a multi-hazard and user-friendly tool to accommodate the broad needs of the region. Looking at the above challenges, and with the support of UN-ISDR, this project aims at (1) developing and promoting the assessment module to measure community preparedness for a multiple range of hazards and (2) Develop a “model community” for disaster preparedness at national and regional level.
