UNESCO Office in Kathmandu’s Documentation and Information Centre was set up with the establishment of the UNESCO Kathmandu Office in July 1998 and is located within the office premises. The centre provides information and documentation support in response to various information needs and to facilitate research.
The Documentation Centre collects UNESCO publications and compiles documents relevant to education and culture in Nepal. The centre networks with the Documentation Centres at UNESCO Headquarters, the UNESCO Institutes and field offices and organizations outside the UN system.
Library collection
The Documentation Centre has collected about 4,000 documents, especially in the fields of education and culture, in an electronic database.
In education the collection includes literature related to Adult Education, Community Learning Centre (CLC), Early Childhood Education, Literacy programs, Girls' Education, Women Education, Primary and Basic Education, Education for All, Secondary Education, Technical and Vocational Education, etc.
In Culture the collection includes World Heritage and Cultural Heritage both tangible and intangible.
Besides the above-mentioned subjects there are resources on Human Rights, HIV and AIDS, History, Arts and Architecture, and Science.
The Documentation Centre is also rich in journals, periodicals, newsletters and daily & weekly newspapers. The audio-visual collection includes CD-Roms, Audio Cassettes and Video Tapes, and Slides.
CLC Information and Documentation
UNESCO Kathmandu Office is also focusing on collecting information and documentation related to Community Learning Centres (CLCs).
By collecting and disseminating CLC-related information, the centre aims to promote the CLC model in and outside Nepal.
Distribution and dissemination of documents
The Documentation Centre distributes and disseminates available UNESCO and UNESCO Kathmandu Office publications and information to relevant parties.

Opening hours
The Documentation Centre is open from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday to Friday except on UN holidays.
