Among its fields of competence, UNESCO is the United Nations’ specialized agency for education. Since its creation in 1945, it has worked to improve education worldwide through technical advice, standard setting, and innovative projects, capacity-building and networking. The Organization’s close links with education ministries and other partners in Members States put it in a key position to press for action.

    Non-formal education constitutes learning opportunities for the vast majority of children, youth and adults in developing countries who are not reached by the formal education system

    Inclusive education seeks to address the learning needs of all children, youth and adults

  • School Health & HIV/AIDS
    UNESCO gives priority to education based on the evidence that education contributes towards the knowledge and personal skills essential for the prevention of HIV
