Environmental education materials (booklets and posters) for youths and adults in Timor Leste

A series of booklets and posters are developed by UNESCO Office Jakarta and Timor Aid Foundation for environmental education materials for youths (+15) and adults in Timor Leste. The materials consist of 3 booklets, titled:

  • Ai-horis sira ne’ebé ami uza iha Timor-Leste (plants in Timor Leste for textile production process)

  • Ai-horis sira ne’ebé bele uza hodi halo kór mean no azúl iha tais (Producing red and blue colors from native dye plants);

  • Parque Nacional Nino Konis Santana (Nino Konis Santa National Park)


  • Besides the booklets, six A3 stimulus posters with a list of activities were also developed to assist the class activities. The publication was available in Tetum language.

    The content of the materials was developed based an analysis of existing materials used in the national literacy program, These booklets and posters can be used as the main or support teaching materials in non-formal education, and can be combined with other available education materials in the classroom. The materials have been tested in three Community Learning Centres in Timor Leste in December 2011.
