This workshop was the first learning activity on the subject that the NDRE has ever undertaken. Its aims were to review existing financial structure and system of MoE and the NDRE, particularly aiming at determining its efficiency and effectiveness; to define the requirements of an efficient and effective financial management system; to describe the required financial structures and systems within the financial system flow and; to define the roles and responsibilities of NDRE staff involved in the financial system. The resource persons consisted of NDRE Finance Officer and Capacity Development Education for All (CapEFA) Consultant who provided inputs on the basics of financial management system and facilitated and managed the workshop sessions.
The 3-day workshop was officially opened by the Director of the National Directorate for Recurrent Education, Filomeno dos Reis Belo. Inputs were provided during discussions on the currently implemented financial system following the MoE’s system. Through the workshop groups, participants have identified problems and gaps in the system and identified suggestions and recommendations for further improvement. The output from the workshop was an action plan where participants identified specific activities to be undertaken in the effort to improve the financial management system of the National Directorate for Recurrent Education.
