The Fifth APHW (Asia Pacific Association of Hydrology and Water Resources Conference) on “Hydrological Regime and Water Resources Management in the Context of Climate Change” (HWCC 2010) in conjunction with the 18th Regional Steering Committee Meeting for UNESCO - IHP for Southeast Asia and the Pacific

BACKGROUND
The international conference on “Hydrological Regime and Water Resources Management in the Context of Climate Change – HWCC2010” will be held at the Sofitel Plaza om 8-9 November, Hanoi city, Vietnam, followed by a one-day technical visit to Ninh Binh Karst Area and the 18th Regional Steering Committee (RSC) Meeting for UNESCO International Hydrological Programme for Southeast Asia and the Pacific (UNESCO-IHP SEAP) at the Army Hotel, Hanoi on 11-12 November.

It is expected that hydrologists, water scientists, engineers and other professionals that will join the conference not only coming from Asia and Pacific region but also from other countries in the world. This international conference is also an opportunity for Vietnamese hydrologists and water professionals to communicate and share their knowledge and experiences with their foreign peers and counterparts.

OBJECTIVES
The aims of the International Conference “Hydrological Regime and Water Resources Management in the Context of Climate Change – HWCC2010” are to share and disseminate knowledge, information and technology in hydrological and water sciences under situation of climate change, and to foster cooperative and collaborative activities in several focal areas as a contribution to the five core Themes of IHP Seventh Phase (IHP-VII, 2008-2013). At the same time, the regional (and global) needs and experiences for the management of water related disasters, the development and management of sustainable water resources, as well as capacity-building of the various interested groups such as stakeholders and professionals, will be addressed.

The general conference theme “Hydrological Regime and Water Resources Management in the Context of Climate Change” is devoted to the following focal areas:
