The International Institute for Higher Education in Latin America and the Caribbean is launching the Portal of Higher Education Initiatives in March

Institutions of higher education of Latin America and the Caribbean will be able to share their initiatives and projects online at the new Portal of Higher Education Initiatives.

The Portal is a platform for the exchange of experiences and projects of higher education among the diverse institutions of Higher Education in the region. "The purpose is to create a space that allows debate and contributions among the higher education institutions", pointed out the Director a.i. of UNESCO-IESALC, Josť Renato Carvalho.

The website is projected as the point of reference for educators, authorities, students and people interested in the activities that are carry out in the region in higher education. Likewise, it will prompt the celebration of events toward the World Conference of Higher Education to be held in Paris next July.

Promoting the mobility of students, researchers, and teachers; fostering the development of research projects; strengthening thematic networks; encouraging shared distance education programs; supporting the creation of regional institutions that combine virtual and regular classroom education; and stimulating interculturality and cultural diversity through the study of languages of the region are among its other objectives.

For a friendly use of the Portal three tools will facilitate the search of information: GoogleMap, catalogue of initiatives and a sample of events.

The Portal of Higher Education Initiatives will be available through the website: http://www.iesalc.unesco.org.ve
