This publication contains a proposal for indicators designed to follow-up early childhood education. It includes a summary of results yielded by a pilot study conducted in three countries of the region.
The proposal seeks to meet the need for more and better internationally comparable information on early childhood education aimed at enhancing the data available on a worldwide scale.
While timely and reliable information plays an essential role in policy formulation, embarking on actions that allow incorporating information on increasingly relevant topics for the regional and global agenda, has also become a matter of the utmost importance. OREALC/UNESCO Santiago presents this document as a contribution to the construction of a better information base in support of public debate and the formulation of policies in the field of early childhood education.
