Helping countries and communities to devise strategies for the long-term preservation of the cultural heritage
The work includes projects on the preservation and restoration of such sites as the Angkor monuments in Cambodia and Borabudur in Indonesia, the elaboration and testing of strategic principles for sustainable tourism development in the Sahara, the drawing-up of thematic itineraries for cultural tourism (e.g. on sugar cane in the Caribbean), and the development of cultural tourism and ecotourism in the mountainous regions of Central Asia and the Himalayas.
