« Toute tentative pour remettre en question ou nier la réalité de l'Holocauste ou de tout autre crime contre l’humanité est à déplorer profondément », a affirmé le Directeur général de l'UNESCO dans une déclaration du 12 décembre intitulée « Transmettre le passé, sans altération ni oubli ».
Cette déclaration fait suite à l'intervention du Secrétaire général des Nations Unies, Kofi Annan, qui a récemment dénoncé toute tentative visant à jeter le doute sur la réalité de l’Holocauste. Continuer Continuer |

Chaque année, la journée du 10 décembre est l'occasion de dresser un état des lieux de la situation des droits de l'homme dans le monde et d'évoquer les défis qui restent à relever dans ce domaine.
Proclamée en 1950, cette journée commémore l’adoption de la Déclaration universelle des droits de l’homme. Depuis 1978, l’UNESCO saisit notamment cette occasion pour décerner, tous les deux ans, le Prix UNESCO de l’éducation aux droits de l’homme. Le Prix sera décerné en 2006 pour la quinzième fois. Le nom du lauréat a été annoncé le 10 décembre 2006. Continuer |

He most recently performed at UNESCO at a gala concert held on 6 November 2006 to celebrate UNESCO’s 60th anniversary.

La commémoration du cinquantenaire de cet événement historique est organisée par la Communauté africaine de culture (CAC), présidée par le Prix Nobel de littérature Wole Soyinka (Nigeria), et le W.E.B.
