Signature of a new self-benefiting funds-in-trust agreement with Albania
- historic town of Gjirokastra
The Director-General of UNESCO and the Permanent Delegate of Albania to UNESCO signed on 15 December 2006 a self-benefiting Funds-in-Trust in favor of the restoration of the historical centre of Gjirokastra a site inscribed on the World Heritage List since 2005.
The Fund being set up with the initial contribution of US1,2 million from the office of the Prime Minister of Albania, reflects Albania’s strong commitment to preservation of cultural heritage in cooperation with UNESCO.
