EuroMAB Austria 2005 - Meeting of EuroMAB Biosphere Reserve Coordinators will take place from 25 to 30 October 2005 in Austria.

|ORGANISERS|

Austrian Commission for UNESCO and the Austrian MAB National Committee
in cooperation with UNESCO and the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety, the Ministry for Agriculture, Forestry, Environment and Water Management, the States of Vienna, Lower Austria and Carinthia through IPAM and the BSR Management Wienerwald

|OBJECTIVES|

The objective of the project is to enhance the functioning of the EuroMAB Network. For this, the meeting will enable the EuroMAB biosphere reserve coordinators to meet, refresh and build friendships, and exchange experience and ideas on how to implement the biosphere reserve concept. Experience has shown that by inspiring and activating the existing and potential “hubs” of the biosphere reserve network, these hubs will act as major drivers for exchanges in the wider network. Hence this meeting this will foster cooperation thereafter through the elaboration of joint research projects, common monitoring efforts, informal and formal “twinning” of biosphere reserve administrations, mentorship between well established and candidate biosphere reserves, exchanges of research scientists, school groups, etc.
