In an effort to build goodwill among the 120 countries represented at Expo 2005 the United Nations Pavilion hosted a friendly get together of over 500 national pavilion staff members after park hours on 29 March.

usamb.gif Maria Helena Henriques Mueller, Director of the UN Pavilion, said “the United Nations brings nations together for discussion and dialogue. Our pavilion has a number of activities, celebrations and discussions planned throughout the 6 month Expo period aimed at fostering dialogue and raising awareness on the importance of celebrating diversity.”

The 450m2 United Nations Pavilion is a visual journey representing the work of 38 United Nations Agencies, programmes and funds. With the theme of “celebrating diversity” the United Nations hope to share its experiences and initiatives supporting peace and security, bio and cultural diversity and people and the environment.
