Nurturing the democratic debate.  
29-01-2003 4:00 pm Paris - UNESCO’s Goodwill Ambassadors will be at Organization Headquarters on February 5 and 6 for their third yearly meeting which will be opened by Director-General Koďchiro Matsuura.
These personalities, who have volunteered to put their skills and renown at the service of UNESCO, will discuss three priority subjects during the meeting: the United Nations Literacy Decade (2003-2012), International Year of Freshwater (2003), and world heritage in danger.

Patrick Baudry, Pierre Bergé, Pierre Cardin, Marin Constantin, Catherine Deneuve, Cheick Modibo Diarra, Miguel Angel Estrella, Princess Firyal, Bahia Hariri, Ikuo Hirayama, Jean-Michel Jarre, Princess Lalla Meryem du Maroc, Omer Zülfü Livaneli, Ute-Henriette Ohoven, Kim Phuc, Sheikh Ghassam I. Shaker, Madanjeet Singh, Zurab Tsereteli, Giancarlo Elia Valori, Marianna Vardinoyannis have already confirmed they will attend the meeting.

The debates will be held in private sessions.

The following press opportunities are scheduled:

- Photo session, Thursday, February 5, 10 to 10.30 a.m.
- Journalists will be admitted to the opening session from 10.30 a.m. to 11.15 a.m.

Due to the limited number of seats, journalists are requested to register with UNESCO’s Press Service.

Interviews can be organized by the Press Service on request on February 6, 12.30 to 1 p.m.
