Nurturing the democratic debate.  
IOC/NAUSICAA press conference on the 2nd International Meeting of "Acting together for the future of the blue planet"
Patricio Bernal, executive secretary of the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC), and Philippe Valette, managing director of NAUSICAA-National Sea Centre, will present the 2nd International Meeting of "Acting together for the future of the blue planet", which will convene in Boulogne (France) from November 17 to 20. The event will serve as a platform to launch a vast public awareness campaign about the need to manage oceans and the environment in a sustainable way. Numerous topics will be discussed, including: oceans and climatic change, managing water resources, preserving underwater biodiversity, threats to coral reefs, managing fish stocks and over-fishing, risks of pollution, coastal management and the impact of daily human activity on the environment and the oceans.
