Accession by Afghanistan to the First Protocol and Second Protocol (The Hague, 26 March 1999) to the Hague Convention of 1954 for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict

On 12 March 2018, Afghanistan deposited with the Director-General its instrument of accession to the First Protocol and Second Protocol to the Hague Convention of 1954 for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict.

In accordance with the terms of Article 10 (b), the First Protocol will enter into force with respect to Afghanistan three months after the deposit of the instrument of accession, that is to say on 12 June 2018.

In accordance with the terms of its Article 43.2, the Second Protocol will enter into force with respect to Afghanistan three months after the deposit of the instrument of accession, that is to say on 12 June 2018.
