Ratification by Monaco of the Convention on the Means of Prohibiting and Preventing the Illicit Import, Export and Transfer of Ownership of Cultural Property (Paris, 14 November 1970)

On 25 August 2017, Monaco deposited with the Director-General its instrument of ratification of the Convention on the Means of Prohibiting and Preventing the Illicit Import, Export and Transfer of Ownership of Cultural Property.

The instrument contained the following reservation:

“Pour la Principauté de Monaco, ne saurait constituer une exportation illicite de biens culturels au sens de la Convention, les prêts consentis par les Etats, des collectivités publiques ou des institutions culturelles étrangères, destinés à être exposés au public à Monaco, conformément à la législation nationale relative aux expositions de biens culturels" [Original : French]

In accordance with the terms of Article 21, the Convention will enter into force with respect to Monaco three months after the deposit of the instrument of ratification, that is to say on 25 November 2017.
