Accession by the United Arab Emirates to the Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions (Paris, 20 October 2005)

On 6 June 2012, the United Arab Emirates deposited with the Director-General its instrument of accession to the Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions.

The instrument contained the following declaration :

[…] le gouvernement des Emirats Arabes Unis adhère à la Convention de 2005 et s’engage à mettre en œuvre toutes ses dispositions, tout en émettant une réserve sur l’article (25) de cette Convention relative au règlement des litiges. En se basant sur l’alinéa (4) de cet article, le gouvernement des Emirats Arabes Unis se considère comme dispensé d’appliquer les mesures de conciliation.» [original en arabe]


In accordance with the terms of its Article 29, the aforementioned Convention will enter into force with respect to the United Arab Emirates three months after the date of the deposit of its instrument, that is to say on 6 September 2012.
