Accession by Bhutan to the Convention on Wetlands of International Importance especially as Waterfowl Habitat adopted at Ramsar in 1971, and amended in 1982 and 1987

On 7 May 2012, Bhutan deposited with the Director-General its instrument of accession to the Convention on Wetlands of International Importance especially as Waterfowl Habitat adopted at Ramsar in 1971 as amended in 1982 and 1987.

In accordance with Article 2 of the Convention, the wetlands named « Bumdeling », « Khotokha » and « Phobjikha » have been designated by Bhutan for inclusion in the List of Wetlands of International Importance established by virtue of this Convention.

In accordance with Article 10(2), the Convention as amended in 1982 and 1987 will enter into force with respect to Bhutan four months after the deposit of this instrument of accession, that is to say on 7 September 2012.
