Discussion on Culture and Development: the role of Culture for sustainable development and economic prosperity.

Culture, in all its dimensions, is a fundamental components of sustainable development. As a sector of activity, through tangible and intangible heritage, creative industries and various forms of artistic expressions, culture is a powerful contributor to economic development, social stability and environmental protection. These debates will be the occasion to address the role of NGOs for the promotion of the indivisibility of culture and development with international experts, representatives of NGOs and the Secretariat.

Debate on UNESCO’s relationship with NGOs: from theory to practice, development of a strategy to enhance the practical cooperation.

Discussion on the future working methods of the Committee on NGOs will be discussed

In light of the debates held in the last session of the Committee, future ways and measures possible to better promote and enhance cooperation with NGOs and civil society at large will be examined. In particular, ways and means to facilitate the participation of NGOs from developing countries, and the enlargement of the Committee’s mandate, etc…
