Within the Agreement on cooperation between UNESCO and ISESCO, which was signed in 1984 and revised in 1996, the 11th Joint Commission Meeting between UNESCO and ISESCO was held from 21 to 23 April 2010 at UNESCO Headquarters.

At the opening ceremony, Mr Sayyad, Assistant Director General for External Relations and Cooperation delivered a welcome speech to the Delegation of ISESCO, composed of Mr. Ghemari, Director of External Relations and Cooperation, Mr Rhiati, Director of Culture and Communication, Dr. Billal, Director of Science and Ms. Djacta, Liaison Officer of the Permanent Delegation of ISESCO to UNESCO.

The two sides reviewed, Sector by Sector, 125 project proposals for joint activities for 2010-2011 in the areas of education (16), natural sciences (50), social sciences and humanities (21) , culture (16), Communication and Information (15), External Relations and Cooperation (4), and Strategic Planning (3). For the previous biennium (2008-2009), UNESCO and ISESCO jointly implemented 128 projects with successful business.

Following this meeting, a draft document of the Programme of cooperation for 2010-2011 has been prepared by both parties. The final document of the Programme of Cooperation for 2010-2011 will be signed by the Directors General of both organizations on 12 May 2010 in Rabat, during the official visit of the Director General in Morocco.

Since 1988, UNESCO and ISESCO sign cooperation programs biennial. UNESCO and ISESCO welcomed the fruitful cooperation between the two organizations.
