Celebrating 2009 UNESCO World Science Day for Peace and Development
Scientists sharing their experiences around the themes of science as seen by international organizations, communicating science to a young public and astronomy; remote connection to the telescope of the Astrophysics Observatory in Asiago of the University of Padua

To celebrate the 2009 UNESCO World Science Day, the UNESCO Office in Venice is organizing an afternoon of lectures on 10 November 2009, at its premises Palazzo Zorzi in Venice (Italy) with scientists as an attempt to highlight science as seen by international organizations such as UNESCO, CERN and ICTP, to promote science education and astronomy. A remote connection to the telescope of the Astrophysics Observatory in Asiago of the University of Padua will follow.

World Science Day for Peace and Development falls every year on 10 November. It is an occasion for UNESCO to reaffirm the virtues of scientific research for promoting the economic, social and cultural development of nations and peoples, in tandem with fostering peace and a sustainable future. Around the world, people are encouraged to join in the celebration. The programme of the event organized by UNESCO Venice within the 2009 UNESCO World Science includes :
