Ratification by the Republic of Moldova of the Convention on the Means of Prohibiting and Preventing the Illicit Import, Export and Transfer of Ownership of Cultural Property (Paris, 14 November 1970)

On 14 September 2007, the Republic of Moldova deposited with the Director-General its instrument of ratification of the above-mentioned Convention.

The instrument of ratification contained the following declaration :

“Until the full re-establishment of the territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova, the provisions of the convention shall be applied only on the territory controlled effectively by the authorities of the Republic of Moldova.” [Original: Moldovan, with English translation provided] In accordance with the terms of Article 21, the Convention will enter into force with respect to the Republic of Moldova three months after the deposit of the instrument of acceptance, that is to say on 14 December 2007.
