c) What can be done in the long-term perspective?
In the longer term, efforts must be made to integrate the restoration and preservation of the Afghan cultural heritage into national development plans. Such plans should include training and capacity-building activities, related to the preservation of the cultural heritage, as well as provision for the protection and management of sites, monuments, museums and archives. It is also essential that a consensus be reached among all the parties concerned, at both national and local levels, on appropriate measures to be taken.
