Accession by China to the International Convention against Doping in Sport (Paris, 19 October 2005)

On 9 October 2006, China deposited with the Director-General its instrument of accession to the International Convention against Doping in Sport.

The instrument was accompanied by a letter containing the following declaration:

“In accordance with the Basic Law of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the PRC and the Basic Law of the Macao Special Administrative Region of the PRC, the Government of the PRC decides that the Convention applies to the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and the Macao Special Administrative Region.”

In accordance with the terms of its Article 37.1, the aforementioned Convention will enter into force on the first day of the month following the expiration of a period of one month after the date of deposit of the thirtieth instrument of ratification, acceptance, approval or accession, with respect to those States that have deposited their respective instruments of ratification, acceptance, approval, or accession on or before that date. At the above-mentioned date of deposit, eighteen such instruments, including that of China, had been received
