Nurturing the democratic debate.  
19-10-2006 4:45 am Un chant nègre, Léopold Sédar Senghor, a documentary film by Jean-Denis Bonan, will be given a preview screening at UNESCO on Friday 20 October at 7 p.m. in Room I. Through testimonies by contemporary poets and artists, the film draws a portrait of Senghor, one of the greatest contemporary French-language poets, President of Senegal (1960 – 1980) and member of the Académie française.
The event is scheduled as part of the celebration of the Senghor Year, proclaimed by the International Organization of the Francophonie (OIF), on the occasion of the centenary of the Léopold Sédar Senghor’s birth. The screening will held under the auspices of UNESCO, in the presence of its Director-General, Koïchiro Matsuura.

Un chant nègre, Léopold Sédar Senghor (in French, 52 minutes) was produced by Candela, with UNESCO, TV5Monde, Canal France International, TELESSONNE, with the support of the Région Ile-de-France and the Région Basse-Normandie.
