Offering quality training to the newly-appointed personnel of National Commissions constitutes a central component of UNESCO’s capacity-building programme.
As staff turnover in National Commissions’ secretariats is persistently high, the objective of such training is to provide basic information about UNESCO’s structure, priorities and working methods. It aims assisting National Commissions to continue discharging their tasks and participating in the Organization’s activities efficiently.
In the current 2008-2009 biennium only, more than 250 officials of National Commissions have been trained by UNESCO through interregional, regional and sub-regional training schemes. The latest series of training seminars were held in Tirana, Albania and in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
More
