Latest Global Education Indicators available

The latest internationally comparable education indicators for the 2004 academic year are now available in the UNESCO Institute of Statistics (UIS) database.
Indicators are also available for all levels of education from pre-primary to tertiary and cover topics such as access, participation, progression, completion, teachers and finance. Users will also find the demographic and economic data that serve as the basis for many indicators as well as raw data on enrolments and graduates by field of education and regional averages.

Indicators are based on data collected annually from Ministries of Education and National Statistical Offices. Many have been calculated using the population estimates compiled by the United Nations Population Division or economic data collected by the World Bank.

The full set of UIS indicators is released annually in April/May. An update is made approximately six months later, providing more recent data for some countries and final revisions to others, in particular for European Union and OECD countries.
