At the last awards ceremony for the 15 fellowships in March 2006, UNESCO and L’Oréal announced that their value would now be raised from US$ 20,000 to US$ 40,000, and their duration extended from one to two years.
Applications for 2007 must be received by UNESCO by 15 September 2006. Each must be presented and endorsed by the National Commission for UNESCO in the young scientist’s country. Candidates are required to be proficient in reading and writing in the language of instruction in the proposed country of study.
