Reinforced cooperation between UNESCO and WADA

UNESCO and the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding on 7 June.
It clarifies the ongoing relationship between the two organizations and outlines future areas of cooperation, particularly in the areas of monitoring, education and capacity-building.

“We are convinced of the need for the international community to provide an honest and equitable environment for all athletes,” said Koïchiro Matsuura, Director-General of UNESCO, and Richard W. Pound, President of the WADA.

On 19 October 2005, the 33rd session of UNESCO’s General Conference unanimously adopted the International Convention against Doping in Sport.
