International Book Year
poster07.jpg
The General Conference proclaimed 1972 as International Book Year, marked by the launching of a long-term reading and book development programme aimed to redress the imbalance between the developed and developing countries. UNESCO invited Member States to encourage an appreciation, particularly among young people, of philosophy and literature by making books generally and cheaply available. The slogan Books for All was adopted and a poster by Rolf Ibach was circulated.
