Committee on Conventions and Recommendations of the Executive Board

The Office of International Standards and Legal Affairs serves as the Secretariat of the Committee on Conventions and Recommendations of the Executive Board at each of its sessions.

Background - Terms of reference - Composition






After the election of new Members of the Executive Board by the General Conference, the Board establishes from among its Members the permanent commissions and committees necessary to assist it in the execution of its tasks (Rule 16.1 of the Rules of Procedure of the Executive Board). The Committee on Conventions and Recommendations (CR) is one of the permanent subsidiary bodies of the Executive Board. It is at present composed of 30 members from all the electoral groups.

The CR meets in closed session, in principle twice a year on the occasion of the sessions of the Executive Board. Extraordinary sessions may also be convened when the Executive Board considers it necessary.

The mandate entrusted to the CR has two complementary components:
