New survey of education in sub-Saharan AfricaParis - Four out of every ten primary–age children in sub-Saharan Africa do not go to school, and of those who do, only a small proportion reach a basic level of skills.
This is one of the conclusions of a new report about to be released by UNESCO’s Institute for Statistics.
Education Statistics 2001 – Regional Report on sub-Saharan Region of Africa, is a comprehensive regional study of education in Africa. It examines the state of education in 49 countries and covers the 1998 and 1999 school years, providing a snapshot of all levels of education from pre-primary to tertiary.
