Home > Seven complex lessons in education for the future - Updated: 08-01-2003 1:59 pm
01-01-2001 12:00 am The purpose of this text is to examine fundamental problems that are overlooked or neglected in education. These problems are presented as "seven complex lessons" that should be covered in an education of the future in all societies in every culture, according to means and rules appropriate to those societies and cultures.

3103778co1150.jpg This publication, launched during the 30th session of UNESCO's General Conference, was prepared as a central element within the development and implementation of the United Nations Commission on Sustainable Development (CSD) International Work Programme in respect of Chapter 36 of Agenda 21. It has since enjoyed considerable success and has been translated from French into the other official languages of UNESCO (Arabic, Chinese, English, Russian and Spanish) and also into Catalan, German, Greek, Italian and Portuguese.

This book is considered to be a key to promoting sustainability through education. Many activities – workshops, seminars, articles, and other materials – have been based on it since its publication in 1999. During 2002-2003, translations into other languages and a number of academic research activities are foreseen.
