Within the overall theme of “Nature’s Wisdom” the focus of the UN Pavilion will be “Celebrating Diversity,” drawing on both cultural and natural diversity, and their interdependence.

paviliontheme.jpgA unique feature of the UN Pavilion will be the inter-relationship of these issues with nature—in the past, today, and in the future—at both local and global levels.

Through the participation in the Expo 2005 Aichi, the United Nations would like visitors to develop and cultivate a greater understanding and appreciation of the efforts of the United Nations to promote harmony and justice in the world.

Exhibits in the Pavilion will illustrate not only the activities of the UN related to human conflicts, but also its work helping to alleviate suffering caused by natural disasters such as floods, drought, earthquakes and hurricanes. The UN Pavilion will offer ”virtual” visits to world heritage sites, and the opportunity to observe a wide range of endangered species, both flora and fauna.

The experience of the UN Pavilion will leave visitors with a greater commitment to cherish and preserve the environment in which we live, and the world we share, for ourselves and for future generations. And the Pavilion should also promote a greater understanding that peace, equality and human rights for all people are not just abstract ideas, but are essential to our global well-being.

The United Nations Pavilion is everyone’s pavilion. It is “We the Peoples” pavilion, and it reflects not only the work of the Organisation, but all the nations and people of the world who make up the membership of the United Nations.
