Working Group Meeting Programme

The Working Group on Ecohydrology and coastal areas met for the first time in April 2003, in Hel, Poland. The WG aims to promote, divulge, and propose the application of Eh & PH solutions in estuaries and coastal areas. The WG is chaired by Prof. Eric Wolanski.

1 : Our experience in linking hydrology and ecology in estuaries and coastal areas. Brief information. Where we are in our study areas? How can our work be integrated under the Ecohydrology and Phytotechnologies concepts?

2 : Where do we want to go? What steps/action should we take and what support do we need. Which measurable outcomes can we propose. What next? Future goals. Definition of a medium term strategy

Venue of the Workshop

The workshop will be held at the Faculty of Marine Sciences and Environment in the Campus of Gambelas of the University of Algarve.

Participants

30 invited participants from Australia, Belgium, Croatia, France, Germany, Guinea-Bissau, Italy, Mozambique, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Tanzania and United Kingdom, including the members of the UNESCO Working Group on “Ecohydrology and Coastal areas” will attend to the workshop.

Publication of the proceedings

A special issue of the Journal Estuarine Coastal Shelf Science will be published with selected papers presented in the workshop.

Participants willing to contribute to this publication are encouraged to submit, preferably during the workshop, their manuscript to the Organization. Papers will be subject to the normal refereeing process.

Financial support

All expenses with transportation, local accommodation, and meals during the workshop will be supported by the organization.
