UNESCO aims to : -
Promote the drafting and implementation of standard setting instruments in the cultural field;
Protect cultural diversity and encourage pluralism and dialogue between cultures and civilizations;
Enhance the linkages between culture and development through capacity building and sharing of knowledge.

Cultural Heritage
UNESCO seeks to encourage the identification, protection and preservation of cultural and natural heritage around the world considered to be of outstanding value to humanity.
Intangible Heritage
The intangible cultural heritage is transmitted from generation to generation, and is constantly recreated by communities and groups, in response to their environment, their interaction with nature, and their historical conditions of existence. UNESCO has several major programmes in the field of intangible cultural heritage.
Intercultural Dialogue
This cultural dialogue has taken on a new meaning in the context of globalization and of the current international political climate. Thus it is becoming a vital means of maintaining peace and world unity.
Normative Action
Legal instruments enable States to better protect all forms of culture. UNESCO presents them in the form of declarations, recommendations and conventions. These instruments are adopted by UNESCO's Member States.
Youth PATH
Governments and international organizations alike have placed poverty eradication at the centre of the global efforts to advance economic and social development. Youth PATH seeks to enable young men and women in the Caribbean to utilize innovative skills for sustainable employment in the area of community Heritage Tourism and preservation of Heritage sites.

This workshop was organized by the UNESCO Office for the Caribbean, International Education and Resource Network (IEARN) Trinidad and Tobago, and the UNESCO DigiArts Team in order to customize and re-design the existing web programme of “Youth creating and communicating on HIV/AIDS” to the needs and aspirations of the Caribbean youth, especially tackling socio-cultural realities and issues related to this topic.
