As part of the Educational Decision Support System project (EDSS), UNESCO Beirut is providing the Lebanese Center for Educational Research and Development with training for its staff.
The five day training offers a beginners level course in Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS), for 25 of the centerís employees.
Dr. Nakhle Wehbe, the UNESCO Consultant on EDSS, will also give the group of participants two sessions on Data Analysis and how to read and interpret data the proper way.
Employees of the Center will utilize this experience when they go back to their offices, by providing decision makers with the right kind of indicators they require, with some kind of basic analysis for it. This is one of a series of training sessions being organized by UNESCO Beirut for public employees in the education sector. Staff of the Ministry of Education, its departments and the center will benefit from these training workshops for their staff.
It is worth mentioning that UNESCO Beirut, within the EDSS project aims at promoting the culture of informed decision-making in the educational systems in the Arab States. This can be achieved by providing relevant, reliable, accurate and timely information to educational policy analysts and policy-makers, educational planners, managers and administrators, researchers and other users of the data produced. In addition to quantitative educational databases, an efficient EDSS includes data from different departments of Education ministries, as well as from other sources such as national demographic data.
