Workshop on Higher Education Reform in Iraq
World Bank in Collaboration with UNESCO Beirut and British Council organized a workshop on Higher Education Reform in Iraq for 45 University Professors and Higher Education Officials from Iraq.

The four day workshop was designed to discuss challenges and prospects of development of higher education in Iraq.
The workshop included presentations by experts from the World Bank, education experts from UNESCO Beirut and the British Council. Director UNESCO Beirut, Dr. Victor Billeh gave a presentation on the Needs & Challenges for the Renewal of Higher Education in Iraq. Dr. Ramzi Salame, the Higher Education Specialist at UNESCO Beirut, gave a presentation on Quality Enhancement and Quality Assurance in Higher Education.
UNESCO Beirut also arranged for the participants to visit the Lebanese University and the American University of Beirut, where they listened to a presentation at the Lebanese University on its main features and experience on self-assessment and reform of programs and curricula. They also discussed university governance and quality assurance and accreditation at the American University of Beirut.
